Obama Document Unveils U.S. Objectives for Pakistan and Afghanistan

Reuters obtained a copy of the Obama administration's document that illustrates our nation's objectives in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Reuters.com has announced that they have obtained a document entitled "Evaluating Progress in Afghanistan-Pakistan" that has been crafted to establish our nation's objectives against al Qaeda in those two aforementioned locations. While Republicans are currently calling for a minimum of tens of thousands of additional soldiers, President Obama clarified that no immediate decision will be made in regards to sending more troops.

The internal document went into detail about the United States' intention to try to enhance the quality of Afghanistan security forces, which would enable the U.S. to reduce the amount of assistance that they provide to the area. It also describes their hopes to improve Islamabad's counter-insurgency capabilities, which would also take pressure off of our military.

The Obama administration reportedly delivered its document to reputable U.S. lawmakers today in order to explain their objectives before inevitable requests were made for additional troops to counteract against the Taliban from U.S. and NATO commander, General Stanley McChrystal.

According to Reuters, the most prevalent objective in the "Evaluating Progress in Afghanistan-Pakistan" document states that our nation must find a way to disrupt "Terrorist networks in Afghanistan and especially Pakistan to degrade any ability they have to plan and launch international terrorist attacks."
