Florida Gators Looking to Make Tennessee's Kiffin Regret his Trash Talk
There were few college football storylines that captured more headlines during the offseason than the seemingly daily trash talk that first year Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin aimed at the Florida Gators football program. On Saturday, the #1 ranked team in the nation will have an opportunity to use all of Kiffin's disrespect as motivation as they host the unranked Tennessee Volunteers in Gainesville, Fla.
Most of Kiffin's verbal venom was directed towards Florida head coach Urban Meyer, who he claimed made a recruiting violation prior to national signing day. However, it turned out that Meyer's actions weren't against NCAA rules and as a result, Kiffin apologized publicly for his error. To go along with his feud with Meyer, Kiffin raised quite a few eyebrows when he declared that his team would be celebrating on Florida's field after this year's game.
Florida's Heisman trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow commented on his Kiffin's disrespect of Meyer, saying, "I don't like anyone talking about Coach Meyer, I try to not let it affect me, although I always have Coach Meyer's back in anything because I know what type of person he is and I know what he believes in."
The Florida Gators are four touchdown favorites according to Las Vegas odds makers and most college football media members are not expecting this Saturday's premier SEC matchup to be a closely contested game. Florida possesses a significant advantage in terms of big game experience and talent. On Saturday, Urban Meyer will likely attempt to get back at Kiffin by proving that they also have a significant coaching advantage over their conference rival.
