WWE CEO Linda McMahon Will Run For Senate Seat
The CEO of the World Wrestling Entertainment is taking on a new challenge: politics.
Linda McMahon, the wife of Vincent K. McMahon, resigned as CEO of the WWE to run against Senator Chris Dodd.
The Connecticut election already includes former congressman Rob Simmons, former ambassador to Ireland Thomas C. Foley, and two-term state senator Sam S. F. Caligiuri.
In an interview with the Kansas City Star, McMahon said that she will approach her job as a businesswoman, citing her success as CEO in creating new jobs.
She also criticized the government's economic plans, saying, "I know you can't spend your way out of debt."
Senator Chris Dodd has been recently tied to controversies, including one involving the subprime mortgage crisis, and his approval numbers are at 43 percent while his disapproval ratings are at 47 percent.
