Still King of the Night
New time, new show and Leno is still atop of the ratings. "The Jay Leno Show" debuted Monday night to 18.4 million viewers. After a mass of unpleasant reviews, Tuesdays telecast was observed by 10.7 million viewers according to the Wilson Media Research.
Despite the dip in spectators, Leno still finished number one in the nightly rankings.
"The Jay Leno Show" on Tuesday night had more viewers than the season finale of CBS'S Big Brother, 7.9 million viewers. It also topped ABC'S replay of a Patrick Swaze interview, who passed away Monday of cancer with 6 million viewers.
Television critics bashed Leno's new show claiming it didn't succeed the built up excitement. NBC executives stated they were expecting long term success, proclaiming Tuesday's audience hugely outnumbered the former "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno 11:30 pm time slot with an average of 5.2 million viewers.
Leno's show will get major competition in the upcoming weeks as other networks showcase their new shows for the Fall.
