Pavement to Reunite
The indie rock band Pavement will reunite for a tour beginning next year. The 90's band famous for its rickety, low-fi sound somewhat transcended the meaning of garage band. While they never quite achieved stadium fame, music snobs everywhere hold a candle for this influential band. They will only reunite for the tour, however, beginning Sept. 21, 2010 at Rumsey Playfield in New York City's Central Park, says the Associated Press. The band broke up in 2000 and have pursued solo projects, most notably frontman Stephen Malkmus. Pixies, arguably one of the most influential indie rock bands ever, had a similar tour in 2004, reuniting just for concerts and no studio time. Other dates have not been specified but it has been speculated that the band may appear at Coachella in April. Coachella is the annual music festival in Indio, California (near Palm Springs) and attracts lots of big names.
