Oprah's New Film Wins Award at Toronto Film Festival
Oprah's newly produced film, "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire," did well at the Toronto International Film Festival today, September 19, as is reported by reuters.com. The film won the lauded People's choice award for best picture of the year, which every day filmgoers vote on.
The story of "Precious" centers around a teenage girl living in Harlem and her horrid story of physical and sexual abuse. Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe plays the troubled teen.
The Los Angeles Times adds that this award acts as a significant sign of an Oscar award in the future for the heart-wrenching movie. Prospective Academy awards could be for best lead and/or supporting actress, best screenplay, best director and even best picture. This could be because Toronto Film Festival is the best place to make people aware of your films," something Oprah Winfrey said herself on cbsnews.com.
This leads us to ask, Can Oprah really do everything?
