Beyonce to play show in Malaysia
Beyonce is performing her first show in two years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after having canceled her scheduled performances due to numerous protests from Muslim groups in response to finding her clothing to be too revealing and sexualized. Muslims who live in Malaysia specifically live under a strict code in which female performers are required to be completely covered from shoulder to knee.
The show is scheduled for October 25, the Associated Press reported. However, things may not go quite as planned as already Sabki Yusof of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party has declared that his organization will be sending a protest note to the government.
Beyonce is not the only musical performer to be banned from the predominately Muslim country. Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, and much more recently, the Black Eyed Peas have all been banned from performing there. The Black Eyed Peas show, which had been scheduled for this Friday, was banned from Muslims because it was sponsored by a beer company.
