Hasselhoff Hospitalization Not Due to Alcohol

The actor was in the hospital briefly due to a medication problem.

After David Hasselhoff was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, his representatives put rumors of alcoholic relapse to rest.

Because of the actor's history of severe drinking problems, the media immediately assumed that his hospitalization was another alcohol poisoning episode. However, his lawyer, Mel Goldsman, told E! News on Monday that he is "totally normal."

Hasselhoff's trip to the hospital was due to some dizziness that was caused by the mixture of his ear infection medication and Antabuse, a drug that causes acute sensitivity to alcohol and is often prescribed to recovering alcoholics.

Some sources claim that Hayley, Hasselhoff's 17-year-old daughter, called 911 after she became worried about his excessive drinking on Sunday. However, People reports that the Los Angeles City Fire Department only said that they "were summoned there for an unspecified request for medical aid."

According to FOXNews, the former "Baywatch" star has been hospitalized for alcohol poisoning over five times in the recent years. He was charged with a DUI in 2004, and reportedly suffered a relapse in May. Sources have said that he is in denial about his addiction.
