Musical Comedy 'Glee' to Get Full 22-Episode Season
Impressed by the first couple episodes, the Fox Network bought 9 more episodes to add to the 13 that are already finished for this fall.
"Glee" aired its preview episode back in May, and its premiere in fall was watched by 7.3 million viewers, writes the Seattle Post Intelligencer. The premiere's script was awarded the highest rating of a Fox program in the last three years. It's now the first new fall season show to be guaranteed a 22-episode season by the network.
According to Reuters, the show experienced a mild drop in ratings during week two, but this can be attributed to the competition introduced by the premieres of other fall programs. It will also be competing with ABC's fall comedy premieres this week.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement, "It's fantastic to be the first show picked up, and that this underdog series, like its characters, will get the chance to keep singing. There are so many more stories to tell," writes the L.A. Times. Fox's president of entertainment said that the first 13 episodes have "knocked our socks off."
