Brad Pitt in Talks for "Sherlock Holmes" Sequel

Rumors are already circulating about a Sherlock Holmes sequel, with Brad Pitt as the detective's nemesis, though nothing official has yet been declared.

It seems a 'Sherlock Holmes' sequel is already in the works, although the movie won't hit the screen for another three months.

The film, hitting theaters on December 25, stars Robert Downey Jr. as the master detective, Jude Law as his loyal sidekick Watson, and Rachel McAdams as love interest Irene Adler. The movie is directed by Guy Ritchie of 'Snatch' fame.

Warner Bros. seems to be expecting quite a lot out of the first movie, if they have already set the ball rolling for a sequel. The studio is apparently negotiating with the writing duo Kieran and Michele Mulroney to write the follow-up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter is further suggesting that Brad Pitt has had discussions with the producers to star as James Moriarty, Holmes' famous arch-enemy, in the potential sequel. Moriarty, a London criminal nicknamed "the Napoleon of crime" in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, is often depicted as Holmes' intellectual equal. The report acknowledges the previous Pitt rumors, but states that "those familiar with the script say the character [of Moriarty] is in shadow and cannot be recognized."

Ritchie has confirmed in a previous statement that "there is some kind of appearance" by Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes, and that the actor who plays him is not credited for the role.

Deduce what you want from the provided clues. Elementary, my dear Watson?
