PBS Awarded With Most Emmy News, Doc Awards
Along with the usual Emmy Awards for movie and television dramas and comedies, the Emmys also have a News and Documentary awards ceremony. Emmyonline describes the News and Documentary section of the awards to recognize journalistic excellence in news reporting as well as documentary films that were aired on television. The News and Documentary department also heads a competition for Business and Financial Reporting
This year's 30th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards gave PBS the most wins this year, with six awards. NBC and PBS both received five each.
The ceremony was held at the Lincoln Center in New York on Monday, and there were 35 categories awarded. Barbara Walters received a lifetime achievement award and CNN president Jon Klein was given the President's Award. The ceremony also honored the late Walter Cronkite and Don Hewitt.
