New Michael Jackson Song to be Released

A brand-new Michael Jackson single, aptly titled "This Is It," will go on sale Oct. 12.

The song, which features backing vocals by Jackson's brothers, will appear on a new two-disc album that will be released on Oct 27. in the U.S. (the 26th internationally), with "This Is It" the film following on Oct. 28.

The new album's first disc will include Jackson's greatest hits, ending with the new song. The second disc will feature previously unheard versions of favorite tunes, the BBC reports.

It is unknown when Jackson wrote and recorded the new song. The pop star had been working with artists like Akon and Will.i.am before his death in June.

"This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows - that Michael is one of God's greatest gifts," said John McClain, co-produced of the new album.
