Natalie Cole Opens Up about Kidney Transplant and Sister's Death
Natalie Cole spoke to AARP Magazine about having a kidney transplant at the same time that her sister passed away.
According to Access Hollywood, this is the first time Cole has opened up about the situation.
It's a moment she describes as being both good and bad.
"This was a very joyous moment where I've got new life. It was also a very sorrowful moment, where my sister had gone on, and the family that donated the kidney had lost their daughter as well," she told the magazine.
Cole said that she didn't deserve the kidney while "two people had left this earth."
"It was like God's hand was orchestrating the whole thing and all we could do was watch," she said.
Cole's kidneys were failing after being treated for Hepatitis C. The transplant saved her life, and she said that angels have "been there all along" looking out for her, and one of them is her sister.
