Pearl Jam May Top The Charts Once Again

With their first new album in years, Pearl Jam might have another number one record on their hands.

3rd Annual

Pearl Jam, who has not come out with a new album since their 2006 self-titled release, is once again back on the charts.

Reuters.com predicts "Backspacer" may even end up topping the charts next week. The new album was released on Sunday. The last time the bad had a number one album was in 1996 with "No Code."

The new album is Pearl Jam's first one without a major label, and is being sold in the US via Target, iTunes, Pearl Jam's website, and some independent retailers.

The band is not only concerned with album sales. They are working hard to raise money for hunger relief. According to the LA Times online, along with selling the album in Target, the band is also selling a limited-edition T-shirt only at Target, and they are donating all proceeds from sales to the National Hunger Relief Program. They also donated $1 for every ticket sold for two Seattle shows promoting their new album to Food Lifeline, another charity for hunger.
