Last Night's Ratings Race: NBC = Ouch

ABC came out on top with CBS a short second, and NBC followed Fox; CW saw an increase in the vampire crowd

Thursday marked the comeback of hit shows like ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and CBS's "CSI," though the numbers look slightly disappointing. While both shows saw lower numbers from last year's season openers, "CSI" fared slightly worse at a drop of 30 percent, according to tvbb.zap2it.com.

It looks like ABC came out on top; the new drama "Flash Forward" got the number one spot for 8 p.m., while NBC comedies like "The Office" and the brand new "Community" showed declines. "The Jay Leno Show" had the worst ratings turnout in its short history. CBS held steady with high marks for the season opener of "The Mentalist" and of course "CSI," a short second behind "Grey's." NBC may have some rearranging to do.

As for the adorable CW, "The Vampire Diaries" saw a four percent increase from last week, but followed NBC in terms of overall ratings. The race for demographics is on.
