'Haunted House' delivers a blood chilling nightmare

With a mask, a flashlight and maybe a brief prayer, thrill seekers at Vortex Theater's Haunted House are guaranteed to experience "graphic sexual and extremely violent situations," by foot or on their knees.

With a mask, a flashlight and maybe a brief prayer, thrill seekers at Vortex Theater's Haunted House are guaranteed to experience "graphic sexual and extremely violent situations," by foot or on their knees.

But everyone walks through alone.

Starting October 6th, the creators of this year's A Midsummer Nightmare, that Time Out NY claims "...makes SAW look like 'The Velveteen Rabbit,"' will present Haunted House located in Chelsea.

This interactive adult-only creation developed by self-proclaimed "horror geeks" Josh Randall and Kristjan Thor, runs until October 31st and promises 15 minutes of extreme apprehension.

"The fears within the "Haunted House" are very basic and common fears for most people--fear of darkness, claustrophobia, being touched, being followed, etc," Randall says. "Our goal is to terrify everyone that walks through...sweaty and shaking is what we're going for."

Prior to entering the house of terror, participants are given a list of rules and are forced to sign a waiver. "Our haunted house is not like other haunted houses," Randall claims. "We are very serious when we say if you can't take it, don't go in!"

During this summer's haunted house, 77 participants out of approximately 700 people "called for help and had to be pulled out," according to Randall. "Thankfully, we had no extreme emergencies and no one got hurt."
