Mad Men Episode Seven, Season Three: Bam
Just when I was beginning to think the magic was fading, "Mad Men" nails it in an episode that left me shocked, surprised and intrigued. Last night was episode seven, season three.
Duck Phillips appeared again and continues his quest to lure Peggy and Campbell to his firm, thus hitting Don Draper where it hurts. Peggy meets Duck to return an Hermes scarf. The result, SPOILER ALERT: They do it in a hotel room, just after Duck expresses what he wants to do to her, and it's pretty naughty, even for 1963.
Meanwhile, Roger Sterling presses Don on the matter of signing a contract resulting from Don's successful landing of Conrad Hilton's New York Hotels. Don is of course extremely hesitant and not until the last five minutes of the episode do we know whether or not he will actually sign. It could be the end of a friendship between Roger Sterling and Don Draper.
And back at home, Betty offers her connection to the governor's office for the Junior League, who wish to prevent a water tank being built. Her connection is the man who seemed so enamored with her at the country club party a few episodes back.
