Scarlett Talks Weight, Nerves, and Press in Glamour
The big screen has allowed audiences to see Scarlett Johansson as a punk high school student stealing SAT answers, a royal girl entangled in a sixteenth century love affair, and an undeniably sexy seductress who happens to help ruin a marriage. But Glamour's November issue simple gives us Johansson as herself.
Many of Johansson's roles involve a level of sensuality, but the young actress wants to make it clear that she does not agree with Hollywood's perceptions about a woman's body. The curvaceous star was incensed by false tabloid rumors that she had lost 14 pounds.
"I could never lose 14 pounds," she told Glamour. But she doesn't see the need to, advising instead "you have to work with what you got."
She is clearly confident with the way she looks, but this does not necessarily mean that she is free from nerves. Even though Johansson loves the chance to be glamorous, walking down the red carpet is still a struggle.
"Being on it is very uncomfortable," she admits. "It's so freakish and weird. I get flop sweats, dry mouth, heart palpitations, allover panic."
It's nice to know that this beautiful Hollywood success stresses just like the rest of us. In fact, Johansson's interview portrayed a remarkably down to earth young woman. But how does she manage to not get caught up in all the drama of fame? Well, she provided the obvious answer: "By not talking about my personal life!"
So we won't be getting any juicy secrets out of her anytime soon, but at least she's willing to give a glimpse of her life, and talk about her sweat of course.
