'Transformers 3' confirmed for 2011 release
On Thursday, director Michael Bay announced on his web site that he will be directing the third installment of the highly successful and profitable "Transformers" franchise.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "Stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are slated to return, as is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' co-writer Ehren Kruger. Steven Spielberg will executive produce, as he did on the first two films, which have grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide.'"
LaBeouf's previous credits include the 2003 Drew Barrymore/Cameron Diaz/Lucy Liu action hit "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," the 2007 thriller "Disturbia" and the 2008 long awaited Harrison Ford adventure "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
Fox's previous credits include the 2004 Lindsey Lohan romantic comedy "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen," as well as starring in several episodes of the ABC Faith Ford/Kelly Ripa comedy "Hope & Faith."
The Paramount film's release date has been eased back a full year from July 1, 2012, to July 1, 2011.
According to Bay, he met with the George Lucas founded visual effects company, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) on Thursday morning in San Francisco and from there flew to Rhode Island with Kruger in tow to meet with Hasbro to converse about new characters to be included in the movie.
"Well, it's official: We have a great 'Transformers 3' story," Bay said on his site. "Today is Day One."
