Chicago Loses Olympic Bid
Chicago was eliminated as a possible host city for the 2016 Olympics on Friday.
The International Olympic Committee shot down Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Olympics on Friday, leaving only Rio de Janeiro and Madrid as possible options. Chicago was eliminated in the first round, surprisingly early considering President Barack Obama's visit to Copenhagen to support his adopted city's bid in person.
The crowd of Chicago locals that had gathered in Chicago's Daley Plaza was shocked as the announcement was made that Chicago didn't even make it to the final two. The feeling of disappointment was understandable considering the bid leaders for Chicago put in four years of effort and $50 million to make Chicago a desirable candidate for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
The winning city is Rio de Janeiro
