Lindsay Lohan Brings Pasties to the Runway
4-Oct-2009

Lindsay Lohan worked as “artistic advisor“ for Ungaro to deliver a show that certainly does not qualify for any fashion hall of fame.
Lindsay Lohan’s debut as an “artistic advisor” for a major fashion label was met with skepticism at best.
Mounir Moufarrige, the risky president of Emanuel Ungaro, hoped that teaming Lohan up with designer Estrella Archs would inspire some much-needed interest from a younger crowd. He seemed unfazed by the possibility that Lohan’s mostly negative reputation could bring harm to his company.
“It’s the clothes that talk,” he told Reuters. “People are interested, and our business is to sell.”
The question is not whether people were interested, a fact that was proven by the horde of journalists vying to get a comment from Lohan, but whether fashion critics were impressed.
Lohan and Archs certainly gave skeptics a lot to find fault with. The show, held at the Louvre in Paris, focused mainly on party clothes, including dresses that exposed a little more than just thigh. Undoubtedly the most unusual choice was a blazer worn over nothing more than heart-shaped nipple pasties. Other models sported these same cover-ups, most commonly worn by strippers, on their foreheads.
Reuters obtained an interesting explanation from Lohan when asked about this particular fashion.
“It’s not good to show your nipples so they should be covered,” she said.
Moufarrige is no stranger to risky staffing decisions. Some years ago, he gave Stella McCartney her start when he brought her to Chloe, replacing Karl Lagerfield, at only 25 years old.
Unfortunately for Ungaro, the muted response from audience members and the less than warm welcome from fashion writers do not suggest that Lohan will become the next McCartney.
