Mel Gibson's Infamous 2006 DUI Expunged
Actor Mel Gibson's criminal record was cleared on Tuesday when a judge agreed to expunge the misdemeanor DUI from the actor's record, according to Sandi Gibbons of the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
The judge expunged the conviction from the actor's record after he successfully completed all the terms of his three-year probation. Gibson, who was not in court for the ruling, pled no contest to the charges.
The 53-year old Oscar-winner paid his debt to society by attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, making a number of public service announcements and paying $1,300 in fines over the infamous DUI incident.
Gibson was pulled over in July 2006 for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. A breathalyzer test showed his blood-alcohol level was .12% - above the legal limit of .08%. The report later made by the Sheriff's Deputy detailed derogatory remarks to one of the arresting officers, calling her "sugar tits", and also a "barrage of anti-Semitic remarks" during which he said, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."
