Chanel's A Little Bit Country

Karl Lagerfeld proved that country and fashion can come together to create a stunning show.

Leave it to Chanel to find fashion inspiration in a place most often associated with muddy overalls and ugly plaid. Karl Lagerfeld's show Tuesday morning at Paris Fashion Week was centered on a country theme, complete with a barn, smelly haystacks and a rickety wooden sign reading "Chanel."

Models burst through the straw to show off suits and dresses that were undeniably modern yet enticingly rustic. Skirts, jackets, and dresses had quaint touches of lace and eyelets. The charming quality was increased by Lagerfeld's choice to abandon the saucy shoe in favor the clog, with a heel of course.

The innocence of the lace and crochet were offset by the sexiness of A-lines and flattering silhouettes. Raffia bags from which models pulled Blackberries topped off the theme of country intermingled with modern high fashion.

As if the clothes were not attention grabbing by themselves, the show also included a musical performance. Lily Allen popped up from a pile of hay, just as evening gowns were being shown, to playfully sing "Not Fair."

All the fun culminated in a suggestive scene, when one male model jumped into the hay to get cozy with two female models.
