David Letterman Apologized
13-Oct-2009
Written by: Marcella Glenn

Once a trust is broken, it’s hard to get back.

David Letterman apologized to his wife and co-workers for his sexual behavior.

Letterman stirred in jokes as he said, his wife and he are "horribly hurt by my behavior."

The CBS late night host plans on restoring his relationship with his wife. The two wed in March 2009.

"Let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me."

He explained that he had been the victim of a $2 million dollar blackmail scheme.

So, he told the world about his actions.

A CBS producer, Robert Halderman, is accused of black-mailing Letterman.

He used Letterman's ex-assistant, Stephanie Birkitt's diary. The diary had details of her affair with Letterman.

Birkitt started living with Halderman, and that's how he became aware of the diary.

Halderman pleaded not guilty.

"If you hurt a person and it's your responsibility, you try to fix it," Letterman said.
