Vinatieri Out 4-8 Weeks
The Colts kicker will miss up to half the season after having surgery on his right knee.
ESPN reports Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has undergone "arthroscopic surgery on his right [kicking] knee to remove a piece of cartilage." As a result, the four-time Super Bowl champion will miss four to eight weeks.
According to the News Sentinel, the Colts have signed former Baltimore Ravens kicker Matt Stover. Though Stover, 41, has not played this season, he is the NFL's fifth all-time leading scorer and set an NFL record with his 372nd consecutive successful extra point last season.
Fantasy sports Web site Rotoworld.com suggests signing Matt Stover in light of the injury to Vinatieri. They say he has not been an effective kicker for several seasons and at the age of 36 might be placed on injured reserve by the Colts.
