Matthew Perry Will Star in New ABC Comedy
Former "Friends" star Matthew Perry will star in a new comedy series on ABC. The show is still untitled, but Perry will play a manager for a mediocre sports arena who begins to rethink his selfishness upon turning 40.
Perry will team up with Thomas Schlamme who worked with him on the ill-fated "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," and will also co-write and executive-produce the show.
While Perry became a household name with the international success of "Friends," his recent projects have received less recognition: while "Studio 60" was critically acclaimed, it only last one season and he played a supporting role in the recent Zac Efron movie, "17 Again."
Apparently the show created a slight bidding war between ABC and NBC, and the contract states there is a penalty if the show is not picked up, almost guaranteeing a full first season.
The show's premiere date is currently unknown.
