Avril Lavigne Divorce: "Irreconcilable Differences"

Singer Avril Lavigne announced on her MySpace page that she and husband Deryck Whibley are amicably calling it quits after three years of marriage.

Another show biz marriage begins its decent into the realm of litigation. Canadian singer Avril Lavigne filed for divorce last week after three years of marriage to Deryck Whibley, citing "irreconcilable differences," according to MTV.com. Apparently the couple separated last month and Lavigne has made no demands for spousal support. Reports in August speculated that the relationship was on the rocks.

Lavigne indicated that the break-up was amicable and that they are both moving on without resentment or bitterness. She posted a message on her MySpace page in which she said only the warmest regards for her soon-to-be-former husband.

Lavigne and Whibley were married in 2006 at a ceremony in California. Whibley plays in Sum 41 and contributed to her music, specifically her 2007 album, "The Best Damn Thing," that included the popular single "Girlfriend."
