Tanamor's Take: Narcissistic Divorced Supermodels
15-Oct-2009
Written by: Jason Tanamor

Christie Brinkley should date downtown boys

In an article I read on Newsday.com titled, "Christie Brinkley describes ex as 'narcissist,'" Brinkley, long time supermodel (I keep hearing her referred to as a supermodel which is like calling Bobby Brown a singer), stated that if you "Google 'Divorcing a narcissist,' it will give you a lot of insight into what I've been going through for the past three and a half years."

OK, so that's what I did – Googled "Divorcing a narcissist." I found this website titled, you guessed it, Divorcing a Narcissist. On the site, which is dedicated to becoming "empowered, educated, prepared and healed," it states, "Divorcing or breaking up with a narcissist is a large scale drama filled with power plays, psychological games, emotional ambushes, and vengefulness from the very beginning."

According to the article on Newsday.com:

"Cook (Brinkley's husband) wanted Brinkley found in contempt of court for allegedly failing to deliver their son's passport to his house in November, which, Cook said, caused Jack to miss a school trip to Egypt. In return, Brinkley's attorneys filed a countermotion to hold Cook in contempt for discussing the marriage on talk shows in violation of a confidentiality agreement."

In this case, Brinkley was right. She was married to a narcissist. Because, apparently, the two like to have drama that involves games and ambushes. This is certainly a shame for their two children, Jack and Sailor, who are stuck in the middle of all this.

I can't imagine turning on the television and seeing my parents going, "No, you did."

"No, you did."

"Nah uh."

"Uh huh."

But that's what it came down to. So, what I think should happen is this. Brinkley should rekindle her relationship with Billy Joel, or at least the Joel in the song "Uptown Girl," whose song with the same name essentially launched Brinkley, supermodel, into the spotlight. If you remember the video, Joel, a blue-collar man, chases Brinkley, who struts up and down, left and right, in a dress indicating that she is "better" or more narcissistic than Joel.

Because as Joel states in the song:

I'm in love with an uptown girl, You know I've seen her in her uptown world; She's getting tired of her high class toys, And all her presents from her uptown boys; She's got a choice.

And that Brinkley did. Apparently, though, she chose an uptown boy, four times (this is her fourth marriage), with high class toys. Because as we now see it, her most recent uptown boy, Cook, took a page from Brinkley's past relationship with Joel, with Brinkley being in Joel's spot and Cook taking Brinkley's cue as the narcissist, ala the video to "Uptown Girl."

Brinkley should consider looking into downtown boys, because, taking advice from Brinkley, I also Googled the word "supermodel.' And according to what I've found, the definition is, "a highly-paid elite fashion model who usually has a worldwide reputation and often a background in haute couture and commercial modeling."

To sum up, two things should happen here. Brinkley should date downtown boys, and people should stop referring to her as a supermodel.
