'Tis the season for a remake.
Jim Carrey will be starring in Walt Disney's "A Christmas Carol," a revamped version of the classic film and novella written by famous English author Charles Dickens. The film premieres in theaters nationwide Friday, Nov. 6, and will have all the expected Disney effects, including 3D animation. Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis is expected to bring a "multi-sensory thrill ride
," according to a news release issued by Walt Disney Pictures.
Funny man Carrey takes the leading roll as the novel's main character, the ever-so-grumpy Ebenezer Scroogem as well as the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. Robin Wright Penn, of Forrest Gump fame, Bob Hoskins, Gary Oldman and Collin Firth also star in the upcoming movie. Despite the glitz, glamour and cast, some are wary Disney can deliver and breathe new life into the classic film. Some moviegoers are ho ho hopeful the film will be a box-office smash, while some skeptics are just saying, "Bah! Humbug!"
