Whedon to direct episode of Glee

Joss Whedon was the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse. Now he is to undertake a new challenge: directing an episode of the musical TV show Glee.

What kind of merit does Whedon have for directing a musical show? During his days on Buffy he created a musical episode, "Once More With Feeling," and he also earned an Emmy for his direction of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, featured on the Internet.

Whedon confirmed the rumors on his fan Web site Whedonesque where he jokes about his future on the show saying, "Why Glee? Because I love cops, serial killers and gritty urban drama (I haven't seen the show yet)."

The episode will air this spring.
