The Nation mocks Palin
22-Oct-2009
Written by: Monica Stern-Morales
The Nation prepared a book mocking Sarah Palin to be released the same day as Palin’s.
The Nation, a progressive magazine, brought 23 writers together in a book created to mock former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, according to Politico.
While Palin's book will be titled “Going Rogue: An American Life,” The Nation's book will be similarly named “Going Rouge: Sarah Palin an American Nightmare.” While Palin depicts herself on the cover wearing red with a cloudy sky in the background, the Nation's version will feature the same cover with one small difference: a darker background highlighted by a lightning bolt striking just over Palin's shoulder.
The Nation's "Going Rouge," to be published by OR Books, will be edited by senior editor Richard Kim and executive editor Betsy Reed, with contributing writers including Jim Hightower and Katha Pollitt.
“The cover is a parody of hers and it certainly takes some shots and mocks Sarah Palin, but it is a very serious book and the book itself is not a parody,” Kim said. “It is not at all intended as a joke or a parody.”
Both books are set to be released Nov. 17.
