Morrissey in Stable Condition after Collapsing on Stage
Reports have confirmed that Morrissey is in stable condition after collapsing on stage Saturday night. The British singer was performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, southwest England where he fell ill.
While in the middle of performing his opening song, "This Charming Man," it has been reported by The Daily Telegraph Morrissey's knees buckled and he fell to the floor where the sound crew helped him off the stage.
Morrissey is in the midst of a world tour and has had to cancel a string of dates due to poor health.
"The stage went dark and he was taken off the stage and then his band left the stage. There was a wait of about 25 minutes before one of the stage crew came on and said Morrissey had left the building, and that he was seriously ill," an eye witness told The Telegraph.
The 50-year-old former front man for the Smiths was taken to nearby Great Western Hospital suffering from respiratory problems but was fully conscious and in stable condition. Doctors will continue to run tests and monitor his situation.
Morrissey is scheduled to perform a sold out show in Bournemouth on October 26. No information has been given for rescheduling the Swindon show.
