Paramount talks about 'Paranormal 2'

This small-budget blockbuster ranks #1 in the box-office and hits global next weekend.

Just when you think Lionsgate's Halloween flick "Saw VI" would come out on top another year, Paramount's "Paranormal" comes out of nowhere and smashes the completion. Now, there is already commotion of a sequel of the small-budget movie that was only meant for select theaters.

"We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do 'Paranormal 2' and we're looking to see if that makes some sense," Paramount Chairman Brad Grey tells The LA Times.

This comes as a surprise to most as the movie only took $15,000 to make. However, it has grossed over $62.5 million so far. Just this weekend the film made $22 million alone which makes "Saw IV's" $14.8 million weekend debut look pale in comparison.

"There's no question ‘Paranormal' offered a fresh alternative… This movie definitely has achieved a place in our culture right now." Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore tells The Associative Press.

Now, Moore believes that it will be part of other cultures as well as "Paranormal" makes its global debut Friday.
