Cab driver assaulted by passenger

A California woman was arrested by Suffolk police after attacking her taxi driver Saturday, reported Newsday.

The woman was identified as Amina Williams, 22. She was taking a ride with cabdriver Alexandre Oseimensuo from Manhattan to Melville under the agreement of a $150 fare. But when she reached her destination, she told the driver she could pay only $80, according to the police. When Oseimensuo declined to change her fare, she sprayed him with pepper sprayand fleed the scene.

Oseimensuo was then taken to North Shore University Hospital in Plainview and was released after treatment.

Williams, caught after she continued to book her hotel room, was charged with third-degree assault and unlawful possession of noxious material. She will be arraigned on Jan. 8.
