U2 to Perform Free Concert in Berlin
28-Oct-2009
Written by: Christine Demane

U2 will be performing free show to mark 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Irish mega-band U2 will be performing a free concert on November 5th in Berlin. The concert will coincide with both the 20th anniversary since the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as with the MTV Europe Music Awards, which is also set to take place that night in Berlin.

November 9th will mark 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall which divided Germany for decades. Its fall marked the end of the Cold War.

According to U2's manager Paul McGuinness, "It'll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down… should be fun."

Tickets will be available on both U2's and MTV Europe's websites on Wednesday.

Other big-name acts slated to perform at the awards show are Jay-Z and Robbie Williams. The MTV Europe Music Awards is one of the biggest non-U.S. awards shows dedicated to pop music.
