Adam Lambert Defends "Deliberately Campy" Album Cover
Adam Lambert, the openly gay American Idol runner-up, took to Twitter to convey to fans and critics that his new album's bizarre cover art for his aptly-named For Your Entertainment disc was made that way on purpose.
"Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy," he wrote. "It's an homage to the past. It IS ridiculous."
Sporting yellow eye shadow, thick black eye liner and black nail polish (not to mention an electric-blue hairdo) on the cover, the singer claims he is glad to have at least gotten people buzzing about his album.
"For those that don't get it: oh well...Glad to have gotten your attention," he continued. "Androgyny. Rock n Roll."
On another note, he told Us Magazine that his new album is "modern and futuristic," and that the lead single, also titled "For Your Entertainment," is sure to please. "Get ready to shake yo asses to this song. It'll make ya dance for sure."
Maybe, once our ears have stopped ringing from the album cover screaming so loud.
