“Sesame Street” and Celebrities Celebrate 40 seasons
29-Oct-2009
Written by: Shamira Fowler

The 40-year-old children’s show celebrates its birthday with a celebrity packed party.

Jake Gyllenhaal and his furry friend Elmo.

Many of us wouldn’t DVR an episode of Sesame Street unless we have young children, but that may change for the celebrity packed Nov. 11 episode of “Sesame Street” celebrating the show’s 40th birthday.

Regardless of age, the 40th year of “Sesame Street” is a big deal. And, of course, the show usually has incredible celebrity appearances from time to time, but they are welcoming a whole slew of celebrities for the upcoming season.

First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to appear on the show once again, according to the New York Post.

Another big name making an appearance on the show is Jake Gyllenhaal. He'll be appearing for Shalom Sesame, a 12-part series of episodes that will teach Jewish-American kids about Jewish culture.

Other celebrities scheduled to appear on “Sesame Street” are Cameron Diaz, Hugh Jackman, Paul Rudd, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ricky Gervais, Adam Sandler, Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, and Matthew Fox. Get reminiscent and get those TiVo’s ready for some Elmo, Big Bird and plenty famous friends.

Elmo shows the first lady how to get to Sesame Street.
