Survivor Samoa: A Pirate's Life

Foa Foa continues their losing streak, while Shambo becomes leader of Galu.

Following Russell's departure last week due to health concerns, viewers tuned in last night to see if this break could give Foa Foa a second wind in the game. As has been the case all season though, this didn't happen.

Galu looked to replace Russell with someone who would not let the team lose momentum. In an unexpected move, the men of the tribe nominated Shambo whom the remaining women did not approve of nor think was qualified. Shambo was deeply humbled her team would consider her for the leader role. The guys admitted they only planned to take her along to further themselves in the game and would not hesitate to dump her later.

Foa Foa was excited they might have a chance to win with Russell out of the competition. But this bubble was burst at the reward challenge when Galu won an afternoon sailboat retreat. Laura did not get to partake in this because Shambo sent her over to Foa Foa to observe the happenings at camp.

As her tribemates feasted on beef stew and bread while taking turns pulling the sails and steering the "pirate ship," Laura was being worked over by villain Russell who lost no time making a secret alliance with her. He told her everything she wanted to hear, remarking how they were so alike being family-oriented, religious Christians. Whether this was just another one of his lies is unknown (though it likely it is) the two made a pact to have each other's backs when the tribes merge and make it to the final two.

Despite these plans, Russell worried his "idiot" tribe would cost him a million dollars when they lost the immunity challenge AGAIN! Back at camp first there was talk Jaison should be voted out since he threw in the towel during the last challenge. However dedicated player Liz went home instead. Host Jeff Probst couldn't help but point out that as a tribe Foa Foa is not successful at winning, but they are successful when it comes to blindsiding. And more surprises are yet to come when the two tribes finally merge next week.
