Anti- Defamation League Honors Steven Spielberg

Academy Award winning director Steven Spielberg will be honored by the Anti-Defanation League (ADL) for his meritorious contributions in the field of human rights during his illustrious film, television and heralded humanitarian work.

The Anti-Defanation League (ADL) will be bestowing their top honor on famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg at their annual Los Angeles fundraiser.

According to Variety.com: “Spielberg will receive the org's top kudo, dubbed America's Democratic Legacy Award, at the dinner gala at the Beverly Hilton hotel.”

The event will take place on Dec. 6. The ADL will be saluting Spielberg for his role as a "true champion of human rights," which he has displayed throughout his film. television and his numerous charitable ventures.

The Variety.com article later adds that the, “ADL national exec director Abraham Foxman will present the award to Spielberg. ‘American Idol’ runner-up Adam Lambert and Israeli singer Noa Dori are among the performers set for the event.’”

Co-chairs of the affair include record executive David Geffen, DreamWorks Animation CEO/film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and entertainment executive Sidney "Sid" Sheinberg.

Spielberg has both directed and produced some of the biggest motion picture hits in the entertainment industry such as directing the much anticipated Harrison Ford 2008 action film “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” producing both the 2007 Shia LaBeouf science fiction action movie “Transformers,” and its 2009 sequel “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” producing the 2006 Clint Eastwood-directed war drama “Flags of our Fathers,” producing the 2005 Rob Marshall-directed romantic drama “Memoirs of a Geisha,” both producing and directing the 2002 Tom Hanks/Leonardo DiCaprio biographical dramedy “Catch Me If You Can,” both producing and directing the 1998 Tom Hanks/Tom Sizemore war drama epic “Saving Private Ryan” and directing the 1993 Sam Neill/Laura Dern/Jeff Goldblum action blockbuster “Jurassic Park.”
