George Clooney’s new film, also starring Kevin Spacey and Ewan McGregor, offers a comedic and truth-based look at army operations.
George Clooney’s new movie may be titled “The Men Who Stare At Goats,” but the film in fact deals with an odd attempt by the U.S. army in Iraq.
The motion picture, in theaters on Friday, November 6, centers on a secret army scheme to train a unit of psychic soldiers, a plot which is based on an actual effort, according to USA Today.
Clooney plays Lyn Cassady, a man who once was a part of the secret task force, founded by Bill Django. Jess Bridges plays Django, the brains behind this First Earth Battalion.
Ewan McGregor is Bob Wilton, a reporter who sets out to investigate and expose the operation. Kevin Spacey acts as a solder in charge of a camp where soldiers are trained to acquire the special abilities.
The movie, meant to be darkly comedic, is based on Jon Ronson’s bestselling work of non-fiction and is directed by Grant Heslov.
