Southland Goes to TNT
"Southland", a cop drama produced by John Wells, was cancelled by NBC before its second season premiere but has been picked up by the TNT cable network. The news was announced Monday morning.
TNT will air the original seven episodes along with the six new hours that NBC ordered and have chosen not to run. The ratings will determine whether or not the network will order more episodes.
"Southland" premiered on NBC in April and was created by Emmy-winning Ann Biderman.
The cable network will run the cop drama on Tuesdays at 10 p.m which is opposite of "The Jay Leno Show". Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said in a statement "This is a perfect opportunity for us to introduce the series to new viewers,"
The show is set in Los Angeles and stars Regina King, Ben McKenzie, Tom Everett Scott and Michael Cudlitz.
"Southland" will premiere on TNT Jan. 12.
