Ringtone sells out Lil Wayne and Birdman in Lawsuit
Even with a pending prison sentence in February stemming from gun possession charges, Lil Wayne's troubles don't end there.
The rapper and his Cash Money Label partner, Birdman, are currently being sued by Thomas Marasciullo for using his vocals on the singles Respect' and 5 Star Stunna' featured on the album "Like Father, Like Son."
The 2006 album contains spoken Italian vocals which Marasciullo recorded in the studio as a demo and did not realize would wind up on the finished product. Marasciullo became aware when he recognized his voice on a ringtone of the song his daughter was about to purchase. There was never any compensation or permission given and now Marasciullo is seeking unspecified damages.
Wayne is keeping himself busy before his February incarceration and has just released a "No Ceilings" mix tape and is expected to produce a rock-oriented album titled "Rebirth" packaged with his "We Are Young Money" project for release around December 15th.
"Tha Carter IV" is due out sometime in 2010.
