Sources report that Brown’s GM George Kokinis has been dismissed

Apparently 8 games were enough for Cleveland Browns’ owner Randy Lerner to realize a change had to be made.

According to ESPN, Lerner is “sick” about the current state of his team. Sources close to the team have confirmed that Lerner fired general manager George Kokinis earlier today in an effort to turn around a 1-7 start. This is the first season for Kokinis with the Browns.

Public relations director Neal Gulkis told local papers that the team would not confirm the dismissal, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer and television station WKYC have reported that Kokinis was ushered out of the team’s facilities around lunchtime today.

The source told the Plain Dealer that "Kokinis is a great guy who does not deserve this. He is taking the fall for the team's problems and it's not right."

It looks as though Head Coach Eric Mangini will keep his job for now.

Lerner told reporters that he will not fire Mangini during the team’s bye week, an ideal time to make a coaching change.
