CW Explains Simpson-Wentz Dismissal
Controversy continues over Ashlee Simpson-Wentz' departure from the flailing CW revival of "Melrose Place." Sister Jessica has come to her defense, explaining on her Twitter page that the show is "crap," according to NYPost.com.
Producers at the CW declined to retort but simply said that Simpson-Wentz storyline was finished and her last appearance will air in January. Her character, Violet Watson, was concerned with the murder mystery surrounding original cast member Sydney (Laura Leighton) from the 1990's FOX series.
Some reports indicate that Ashlee's acting was the reason for her forced exit from the show, and that she was in fact chosen for the buzz she would create rather than her talent.
"Melrose Place" ratings have been less than satisfactory, and producers hope that Heather Locklear's encore role as diva Amanda Woodward will help retain more viewers in the place of Mrs. Simpson-Wentz.
