Spikes Suspended For First Half Against Vanderbilt
The number one ranked Florida Gators have suspended linebacker and defensive captain Brandon Spikes for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt. The suspension comes after footage of Spikes sticking his fingers into an opposing players helmet against Georgia on Oct. 31. and "apparently attempted to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey", reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
While some characterize Spikes' actions as atrocious, Joe Henderson of the Tampa Tribune says that is just how the game of football is played. It is a known fact that such actions take place in every game, nearly every time there is a lose ball. In those scrums for the football, guys will do anything to regain possession of the ball for their team, and Henderson argues that is all Spikes is truly guilty of.
