Jaroo.com, A Hulu For Kids
3-Nov-2009
Written by: Ingrid Bergquist

Cookie Jar released Jaroo.com, a site for watching television series’ online.

Cookie Jar Entertainment has released Jaroo.com, a Hulu-like site for kids, The Hollywood Reporter announced Tuesday.

Unlike Hulu, which is aimed for more mature audiences, Jaroo.com is aimed at children 4-12 years of age, and contains 22-minute shows with 90-second commercial breaks. The Web site launched with 50 shows and 500 episodes but will keep growing as the Cookie Jar’s library is being digitalized.

9.5% of the U.S internet users are children 11 years old or younger, each spending some 11 hours per month online, compared to seven hours a month four years ago.

Shows included in the Jaroo listing are “Inspector Gadget,” “Adventures of Paddington,” “Cake,” “Madeline,” “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and “Mona the Vampire,” which is a popular cartoon show in Canada and Great Britain.

Cookie Jar Entertainment is a 5-year-old Canadian company, which produces and distributes children shows. With the addition of Jaroo.com Cookie Jar has become a programmer company as well.
