Kirstie Alley to Star in Reality Series

A new reality show will follow Alley as she raises her children and works on new projects.

Kirstie Alley is no stranger to unwanted media attention, but a new project involves willingly turning the cameras in her direction. Alley will star in and executive produce an upcoming A&E reality docuseries that focuses on her life, reports Usmagazine.com. Viewers will get a glimpse of the actress's single mother duties and weight loss efforts.

The series, yet to be titled, will have 10 half-hour episodes.

Robert Sharenow, the senior vice president of A&E nonfiction/alternative programming, spoke with Variety magazine about the choice to pick up a show about Alley.

"Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to," Sharenow said. "Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she'll be opening up her home to reveal her real life to cameras."

A statement released by A&E cited the various responsibilities that Alley will be juggling during filming, including launching a weight-loss program.

According to the network, Alley is "producing a feature film, patenting multiple inventions, working hard to raise two normal Hollywood teenagers, taking care of eight ringtail lemurs and, on top of everything, looking for love."

FremantleMedia North America will produce the show, which will air sometime next year.
