CBS cuts back on 'Numb3rs'
Whether or not the popular CBS procedural crime drama "Numb3rs" will continue to be a staple show on the network is being called into question as CBS has slashed their order of series' episodes from 22 to 16.
According to HollywoodReporter.com: "Friday nights have taken a big ratings hit this fall, and Numbers,' now in its sixth season, has been no exception. Last week, the drama starring Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz averaged a 1.7 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers overall.'"
In addition, the network has several midseason drama series on deck such as the Canadian procedural crime drama "Flashpoint," which has performed well on Fridays and stars ex-"Just Shoot Me" cast member Enrico Colantoni and Ami Jo Johnson, who is best known for her portrayal as the first Pink Ranger of the Power Rangers franchise in "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" and as Julie Emrick on The WB's college drama "Felicity."
As for future of "Numb3ers," a CBS representative stated that no decision has been reached.
The series follows the relationship between FBI Special Agent Don Eppes, played by Morrow, his brother, Charlie Epps, played by Krumholtz and their father, Alan Eppps, played by actor Judd Hirsch as the brothers' mission to solve crimes in Los Angeles, FBI style are chronicled and how Charlie's proficiency with mathematics always seems to be crucial in solving each case.
Yet, the HollywoodReporter.com article said, "But with the series, from sibling CBS TV Studios, already secured a syndication run, continuing it at the high cost associated with a long-running drama is considered unlikely."
