Beatles Hits to Be Released on USB
It seems like 2009 will go down as a significant year for the Beatles. First, it was Beatles Rock Band. Now, just in time for the holidays, Beatles fans can get their hands on one of 30,000 apple-shaped 16 MB USB drives, which contain the Beatles remasters, as well as rare videos, photos, and album art. This marks the first time that Beatles' music is available in digital format, as separate files from their respective CD's.
The USB drive, which will retail for $279, is set to be released in the UK on December 7 and in North America on December 8. Fans may currently pre-order the USB's through the Beatles' online store.
The USB's contain both MP3 and FLAC files, and are said to be compatible with both Macs and PC's. The hits are set to be released on vinyl shortly. The hits were reissued on CD last September.
