Diamondbacks Decline Tracy's $7 million Option

The 29-year-old infielder will become a free agent.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have declined the option on infielder Chad Tracy's contract, worth $7 million, instead buying his contract for $1 million in a move to save money, reports USA Today. Tracy played in only 71 games this season, spending a great deal of time on the disabled list. In those game played, he had a batting average of .237.
The 29-year old will become a free agent, according to KTAR.com. The Diamondbacks announced additional moves on Thursday. The team sent right-handed pitcher Daniel Cabrera, outfielder Trent Oeltjen and outfielder Alex Romero to Triple-A Reno. These moves bring their roster total down from 40 players to 35.
